Regarding the horrible earthquake and tsunami in Japan...

Yeah, THATS the worst part.

  2. Am I the only one who thinks the only way its okay to have a nose ring is if you are infact some manner of minotaur?

  3. You know what? Ew. Just...ew. Because I'm too stunned to think of any creative insult.

Always remember that natural disasters ruin the ability for everyone in that country to ever do good work again.

  5. Wow that was thoughtless.

There can though be hope that out of this tragedy comes a new age of anime and manga similar to after the bombs. You know, if we are looking for silver linings to horrible events.

  6. OK, I honestly and sincerely wonder if you respond to some of these people. Letting some of those off the cuff comments go is just fine, but something like this should get a serious response. Hell, even a simple, "With an attitude like that, I don't need your business here," would suffice.

  7. I got one worse. A friend of mine works in energy trading, and actually said how "good it was for him that people are now so scared of nuclear."

  8. The saddest part of this comic is that I know people like this. In my colleges sci-fi club, right after the earthquake happened, while the rest of us were being concerned and wondering if those who had friends in Japan knew if they were okay, one kid posted a link with a list of Japanese celebrities who were confirmed as not dead. [sarcasm]Because when tragedy strikes, it's the celebrities who we need to check on first.[/sarcasm]

  9. Yes, the disasters in Japan mean the end of manga. Just like how the fires in Detroit last year caused all techno to cease.

  10. She's wrong, of course. The worst part of this disaster is that they can't film the next Wolverine movie over there.
Oh...and all the people who were killed, the radiation, the blow to Japan's economy. That, and the Wolverine movie.

  11. Wow, some people are incredibly selfish.

For the record, none of Weekly Shonen Jump's staff were directly effected by the tsunami, earthquake, radiation and so on.

... but she said "good" manga.

  12. I'm with the first poster.

  13. Wow, some of you are way too sensitive. The girl in the comic is an idiot, but lighten up, you still let idiots spend their money.

  14. Of course, she's an idiot. She said "good manga."

  15. She reminds me of the people on Amazon who were posting concern not about the earthquake victims, but to see if this was going to have any effect on the shipments of the 3DS which were supposed to be heading to the US.

  16. Well, to be fair, it wasn't as bad as one chinese girl who posted a youtube video of how the 2008 earthquake in China "ruined her life", and by that she meant "people stopped paying attention to her". Regardless, that comment lacked both tact and a sense of priority.

I can imagine already what she said when 9-11 happened:

"Oh great, they'll stop making good sitcoms now..."

  17. Does she have a hickey? Classy.

  18. To take an optimistic view on this one, maybe she's just socially awkward and isn't very good at expressing sympathy or grief. In her thoughts she feels sorrow for the tremendous loss of life, but verbally, the only thing she can manage is this bad bad joke. And, be honest, who hasn't had this mean idea run through their thoughts, even with how little sense it makes.

Of course, she could just be a jerk.

  19. Every day this site causes me to lose a little more faith in humanity.

And that was already a half-empty glass to begin with.

  21. Have you people not been on the internet since the quake til now? People have been spouting crap like this the WHOLE TIME. And worse.

  22. You mean there was good manga?

  23. Man why do all the dumb comic bitches always go so far out of their way to appear alternative... I guess it's better than a "talk nerdy to me" shirt, but you can really tell you don't want to talk to them from a mile away....

  24. *facepalm* It's the dumb whores like this one that I'd really just like to fling over a cliff...

  25. You mean they did any good manga before?
