  2. I would say that it goes customer, fan, and then sucker. Casual buyers aren't prone to buying 52 different variant covers of the exact same comic.

      Because curiosity.

      Haven't you ever bought a issue or two of something just to see what it was all about and then decided it wasn't worth reading more of that title? That's being a customer without being a fan.

      Or do you consider yourself a fan of things you're never even read?

    4. I'd think the opposite nowadays. A casual reader steals from the internet, a fan buys. This may support the casual-to-fan theory.
