To his friend...

  1. That is pretty crazy. Think of all the Superbowls you could win with a Green Lantern ring.

  2. He must be a Lions fan. A Green Lantern ring would be easier to get for them.

  3. To be fair, a ring with magical powers IS better than a Super Bowl ring.... And I don't even like Green Lantern.

  4. One of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy vs. something you can buy at an auction... hmm...

  5. In a fantasy world, definitely Green Lantern. Here in the real world? I'll take the thing that has value, that people want:the Super Bowl Ring. Maybe that's what he was referring to.

    1. Whether or not it could create constructs, it would still have more monetary value simply because of the rare and possibly otherwise unobtainable elements it is constructed from. That's presuming, of course, that the Guardians don't just make all their rings out of some cheap-ass Earth material like plastic.

If you are talking about a prop GL ring, I can't see it being any more worthless than a prop Super Bowl ring. You can get either one out of a gumball machine.

    1. Both situations equally hypothetical...

  7. Yeah! Come to a site about comic books and comic book discussions and talk about "it's not real".

    Well played.

  8. Well to be honest a power ring without a lantern wouldn't be that useful long term. Short term you could do a lot with it but once it powers down you'd be left with a worthless ring. Where as the super bowl ring would always have a value you could sell it for as well as a "status" value of owning a super bowl ring.

    1. It would still be a piece of technology far beyond any we've developed. You could make yourself a king with the secrets it holds.

  9. Hmm. The "reply" link doesn't seem to be working for me.

@Anonymous, 4/3 11:33: You make a valid point, but truthfully I'd take a power ring even for a day as opposed to a Super Bowl ring. I mean, ignore the fun possibilities - do you know how much gold, silver and so on you could mine in a day with a power ring?

  13. I'm not even a huge Green Lantern fan, but I would definitely want the ability to wield power bounded only by my imagination for even a temporary period over... a big clunky ring that doesn't do anything.
