While discussing the AVENGERS movie...

  1. It is true. Joss Whedon does build up likeable characters, then kills them.

  2. The second it was announced Whedon was directing this pretty much everyone called it.
Coulson is just minor enough and just loveable enough to be killed off. Its science.

  3. Yeah, but did he die? He'll be in the sequel

  4. Except that it wasn't Joss' idea...he was TOLD to kill off Coulson.

    1. You got any sources on this fact here?

"In our first meeting Kevin Feige said, this is what we're gonna do and I said, "Oh but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much shit. Because they are all going to be like, "Oh he did it again!" It was stipulated from the beginning, and I completely agree that it was the right thing to do, and so did Clark. Who said in the early days, when I was busy apologizing for it, "In a movie like this, with what's going on if there isn't some toll, it's just irresponsible story telling.""

    3. This is true - for once, it WASN'T Joss's fault.

You can all feel free to remain pissed off about Wash though.

    4. And where's the love for Shepherd Book?

Yeah, all right - I liked Wash better, too.

  5. Aaaaand thank you. Saving up to move, so I was waiting til this was in the dollar theaters and trying to avoid spoilers. I was actually successful up until now. Not that this is the most epic spoiler ever, but come on people.

    1. Oh, shut up!

    2. I'm always sympathetic about spoilers, but to be fair, you are cruising a site ABOUT passionate comic-related discussions right after the movie comes out. That's not really being cautious.

    3. And the title of the post is, "While Discussing the Avengers Movie..." If that didn't give you a hint to avoid it, you get what you get.

    4. So sorry we refused to talk about something we all have seen and liked simply because you haven't, stranger from the internet.

      Delete
    5. I haven't seen it either, and I like to avoid spoilers, but I accept that, if I don't see a movie in the first couple of weeks, it's my own damned fault if something gets spoiled.

I can't expect everyone else in the world to avoid discussing what happens in the film just because I have chosen to wait.

    6. I haven't chosen to wait. Movie hasn't arrived here in Japan yet. Also, a SPOILERS tag takes less than one second to type.

      Delete
    7. Yeah, overall it should still have a spoiler tag when it's something this blatant.

  6. Dude! Spoilers! >:(

    1. As Anon 12:10 pm said, the title of the post is "While discussing the avenger movie..." You have no one to blame but yourself.

    2. No one except himself... and the guy who posted the friggin' spoilers.

    3. BOY OH BOY! I sure hope no one ruins the Avengers for me! HEY! What's this? "While discussing the Avengers movie..."? Surely that, on this comic-based website, would contain no spoilers at all! Derpity derp.

      Delete
    4. You realize the entire point of the spoiler tag is so that people do not have to shut off their internet and stop browsing "comic-based websites" just because they aren't up to date. And what's up-to-date even mean in comics? "If you aren't up to date on every comic and movie you read by Wednesday at noon, fuck you?"

      Delete
    5. Right, but if you're browsing said website and you read something blatantly about the Avengers movie, whether the spoiler is in the thing or in the comments, you're asking to have something spoiled.

      Delete
    6. What I mean is if you read an Avengers spoiler on something that ISN'T about the Avengers, then I'm sorry, obviously you were trying to avoid that. But don't whine about Avengers spoilers on something that is OBVIOUSLY going to talk about the Avengers.

      Delete
    7. ...and not even "Avengers Comics" or "Avengers in general". It clearly says "the Avengers Movie".

      Delete
  7. Hah! I said that in the theater to my best friend. He died and she looked at me and I said "Fucking Joss Whedon"

    ReplyDelete
  8. To be fair though I figured our dead man was gonna be Hawkeye...I mean he's Hawkeye...Dying is what he does.

  9. I'm so sick of this- it's been out for a month. It's HUGE- everyone has seen it. I'm poor as shit and I've managed to see it twice. You haven't yet, okay that's fine- sometimes shit happens. But the internet should not have to watch what it says around you!!! People can talk about/post whatever they want- on any site they want- and if you care THAT much about hearing any "spoilers" then don't get on the internet. Or AT LEAST stay off of relevant nerd, comic or movie related sites! I don't go around expecting the rest of the world to preface anything they might say or write with 'SPOILERS!' on the off chance it's something I haven't seen/read and want to... Grow up!

    1. I'd be sympathetic if it wasn't prefaced with "While Discussing the Avengers Movie" in big bold yellow letters. I mean, as you say it is only a month old. As is though, what more do they want? Do we need to replace the image with a giant neon sign saying "Spoilers!" which clicks through to a ToS agreement where you agree that you have read the above and have a full understanding of the content which is being discussed in the following humor piece?

  10. Wasn't this already established? 1 minute, 54 seconds in.

  12. Spoiler alert! That comic book character you like dies!.... and then comes back to life!... and then dies again... ON AN ALTERNATE EARTH!

  13. I just wanted to hold him... I love beautiful G-men. Q_Q

  14. Clark Gregg is apparently signed for three more movies. My money is LMD. That would explain soooo many things about the character

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree with HeatherEK about an LMD. One thing I've learned in all my years of reading comics is that DEAD doesn't mean dead forever and Joss and his team are talented enough to bring Coulson back in a way that we'll all be able to accept. I'm still waiting for Jean Grey to come back and we all know that's coming sooner or later.

  16. If I were to make memes of this thread, the text would read like this:

STROKED OFF TO WOMEN IN REFRIGERATORS, COUNTDOWN: ARENA, AND EVERY "EVENT" RAPE, DISMEMBERMENT, AND DEATH
    Mad that Agent Coulson dies

    SPOILER ALERT
    Rosebud is the sled

    Why Not Agent SKRULLson?

    4. So you admit Anon 6:38 is right, and you suck at this?

    5. Your memes are bad and you should feel bad

  17. Eh, in my opinion he didn't die. I don't think that we've ever seen the body after the fight scene, and we all know what that means, right? Also, Fury openly mentioned that he needed the team to have something "to avenge"... and pullish such a bit of manipulation is not beyond him at all.

SPOILER ALERT! Get a fucking life.

  19. Actually, if it is a LMD, I'd love to see Coulson throw down with Fury over getting blood on his Captain America trading cards.
