  2. Wait, superhero comics are popular these days? Could have fooled me. I thought comic sales have been falling for the past 20 years...

  3. Superhero comics are like swing dancing. Just cuz they got popular again doesn't mean they were ever good, but both are, in fact, good.

  4. What a strange comparison.

  5. There's terrible and good swing dancers and there's terrible and good comics.. it's an accurate comparison.

  6. You forgot to label this one "It's true"

  7. TAKE THAT Swing-Dancing enthusiasts!!!
But I don't care WHAT he says about superhero comics... my Prowler miniseries and NightWatch comics are TOTALLY good! -No, wait...

  8. Well, his comment is technically true... their popularity does not influence their quality. Rather the opposite, in fact.

    1. This can be said for almost anything. Really, its supply and demand. As any given thing becomes more popular, its demand (by definition) goes up. This encourages more production, which allows lower-quality producers to enter the market.

  9. Poor Shane McCarthy - he's a superhero comics writer and a swing dance instructor. He's gonna think this is personal!

    1. As one of Shane's students, I can confidently say he can handle it.

  12. Your customer is right. Comic books would be a much more viable commodity today if they hadn't devolved into crappy superhero stories stealing all their plots from the Bible. Those were the early days and the stories (and art) have just gotten worse from there. Your customer is 100% correct and made a clever and extremely accurate analogy.

  15. He may not be right, but it's a nifty analogy that can be applied to many "retro" fads.

  17. It's not so much that superhero comics are bad. It's that they squat on the market, and insist they're the only thing in comics ever.
