Angrily regarding the cover of the new JUSTICE LEAGUE #1...

Wow.

  1. There's ... there's a lot of anger there.

  2. Well the Flash 'blandest character ever' shirt makes sense.

  3. Good Lord, that's EXACTLY the same bullshit "joke" they were slinging when John Stewart joined the JLA. Hell, before that, when he got the ring in the first place (and said "jive" a disturbing amount of times).

  4. If I was Magneto, I'd totally let Cyborg join me on my quest to crush jerks like that.

  5. Personally, I can't wait for Geo-Force, Arrowette and Brainiac 5 to join the JLA.

  6. I wonder how that conversation would go down.

"Superman, it says here that you don't have a single minority on the Justice League..."
    "What about Wonder Woman?"
    "Uh..."
"OH OKAY ALREADY! You're lucky I've forgotten I have heat vision and am above American laws."

You know, because Superman is a complete and total bigot. *sigh*

  7. I remember that conversation.

  8. I hope Midnighter and Apollo are still gay in
the new Stormwatch. It would cause this guys
tiny bigoted little brain to explode.

  9. Wait? There's a quota for people who are half machine?

    I AM OUTRAGED!

  10. Maybe he just means this as in Cyborg doesn't seem "JLA Material"
I was pretty surprised when Cyborg was in it.

  11. Cyborg is a legit character. At least he ain't no Apache Chief, Samurai, or Black Vulcan!

  12. You can tell this one sincerely pissed him off because that it the ugliest sneer MRTIM has ever drawn.

Also, this has nothing to do with anything, but Jon Stewart kicks ALL KINDS of ass. Thanks to the Bruce Timm cartoon, he is my wife's favorite Green Lantern. And that means my wife has a favorite Green Lantern. And that makes me happy.

  13. Too true, Garrett. We owe a lot to Bruce Timm's cartoons.

  14. Am I the only one concerned that THIS dude is looking at the reader right in the eyes with his hate?

  15. It's not affirmative action, it's just DC purging their customer base of racist sub-humans like you!

  16. Superman is way more of a minority than Cyborg.

    ReplyDelete
  17. There are way more minorities on the JLA than I thought.

An alien from another planet- minority
Crazy guy dealing with his parents death- That's like McDonalds hiring in their "special program.
Guy who talks to fish- minority
One of only 3600 (7200?) beings in the galaxy chosen- He's a chosen one, maybe it's a Jewish thing, Minority
    Black Cyborg- minority
Best one of all: FAST white guy- definite minority
(I got nothing on the hot greek chick. Hot girls get whatever they want.)

  18. As someone who watched the Superfriends in his youth, I see Cyborg on the JLA as the just and proper way of things. Also, in regards to one of the Anonymous replies, wasn't Geo-Force ALREADY on the League for a spell?

  19. I miss the 70's when minority superheroes generally had "black" in their name: Black Goliath, Black Lightning, Black Vulcan... John Stewart would've been called "Black Green Lantern."
It's nice when racist idiots like this pop up and remind me of how far we haven't evolved over the years.

  20. Cyborg should be kicked off the team for having an incredibly generic name. He could join a team of The Bat, The Amazon and The Superman...uh, well, his name is still generic.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I just hope Cyborg still has some Teen Titans history. Have him only join after the book jumps 5 years to the present. Where else is the point, unless Cyborg actively grows into being a hero worthy of the league, like he did before the relaunch?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wait...isn't MrTim black? I'm pretty sure he noted that below a previous racist bastard's entry.

  23. @Tigerama:
I remember hearing about similar gripes regarding the fact that Carl Lumbly (black) was cast to voice J'onn for the Justice League series. You know, because green is obviously the Martian white.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not so. White Martians are the Martian white. DUH.

  25. I didn't know Archie Bunker read comics

    ReplyDelete
  26. as someone who enjoys cyborg more than half the given people who are on the JLA at any one time or ever, Cyborg basically *is* in the new JLA because he's black.

(he could easily have been a member a long time ago)

  27. Why is it considered racist to point out what should be obvious to anyone? This is tokenism, pure and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Its about how the conversation is framed. If you talk about it being a "token" then sure, thats valid. If you bring it up as "Affirmative action" then you just sound like an out of touch white guy bitching that they put a black guy in your white super hero team.
