  3. Those movies had pretty much nothing in common with one another, unless there's an alternate cut of Star Trek about a quasi-fascist Federation fighting against a bug empire that I missed.

  4. Starship troopers had way more NPH than Star Trek

  5. Let's see...spaceships, and they're in space. Hey, he's right!
And come to think of it, they also ripped off this old syndicated show I used to watch called "Wagon Train in Space" (or something similar). I think they even plagiarized the characters' names, name of the ship, and basic storyline. Just with better effects and better hair.

  6. If Star Trek encountered the giant bugs in Starship Troopers, you know Kirk would have to bed one of them.

  7. Starship Troopers has more in common with Robocop and Total Recall. To me those three movies form Verhoven's SF trilogy. They've all got the same anti-authoritarian feel, the same over-the-top TV commercials, and the same hyper-real-to-the-point-of-cartoon violence.

  8. do you think this fan knows the difference between its and it's, and the proper uses thereof?

  9. and do you really think this fan used the proper form of "its" or "it's" when he SPOKE the word, as opposed to the proper use being that of MrTim's responsibility?

  10. MR. TIM!!! "ITS" - not "IT'S" - aye me, the English Prof in me just committed suicide...

  11. Starship Troopers the book or Starship Troopers the movie? He must clarify!

  12. It did, however, prove that Abrams is unable to make anything with soap opera-esque love triangles.

  13. Without, dammit, without. Not with.

  14. Jef, do you honestly believe this kid has read a book? I mean a book without pictures?

I loved the book when I was young, but I admit that I loved even more the way the movie turned the story upside down. Heinlein was spinning in his grave (probably not literally).

  15. I believe he meant Star Wars, that was I was thinking when I saw that piece of...highly successful Hollywood product.

  16. Star Trek is a wildly fun, gorgeous film, but Starship Troopers is a masterpiece. Effects, atmosphere, pseudo-satire.... classic classic film. Love it.
