  3. Gender differentiation. Were it "Diary of a Kid" the majority of folks would think girl. The inclusion of wimpy is directed toward guys. I don't think I've ever heard a girl being called wimpy.

Her main point is correct, though. I know way too many males, and I use that term instead of men, that portray negative female stereotypes like emotional outbursts, over concern with hair, shoes and clothes, gossiping, etc. Women need MEN not another girlfriend.

Sorry for the rant that had little to do with the movie. That is all.

  4. I'd argue that Mark Twain and Teddy Roosevelt are anything but wimpy. They are more manly than manliness itself.

  5. Well, that was long before our time. It was cool to have a diary back then.

  6. When you want to sound manly, you call it a log.

  9. If I recall the book actually opens up with the title character upset that his mother got him a book with "diary" on it when he wanted a "journal."

  10. "I don't think I've ever heard a girl being called wimpy."

They're girls. I think their wimpyness is implied.

  11. It should be called "Diary of a Kid" then. But why call him a kid? He has a diary; his juvenile status is implied.

It should be called "Diary". But why call it a diary? It's a sequence of events from the point of view of a character; the "diary" part is implied.

    It should be called "".

  13. Reminds me of the episode of Doug when he had to keep expressing to people that it was a journal, not a diary, that he had lost and needed help finding.

  14. Reminds of an episode of Seinfeld where some guy lost his purse and he had to keep expressing to people that it was actually a "carry-all" he needed help finding.

Reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons where ..

Which reminds of an episode of FRIENDS where ..

Think they did that on Saved by the Bell, too. People care wayy too much about shit like this. Would it help if some of your girlfriends started acting like MEN to compensate?

just wondering where you draw the line

Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy? I think the "hefty" is implied instead.

  18. The title is outdated now anyway. It should be the Blog of a Wimpy Kid.
