To his friend on why he doesn't think the SIMPSONS is funny...

  1. I wonder if his friend "asked if he cared" about The Simpsons?

  2. To be fair, it has been years since the Simpsons were funny.

  3. Hearing "it has been years since the Simpsons were funny" makes me feel all nostalgic for 1993, the first year I heard somebody say that.

So he only like 'South Park'... and maybe 'Drawn Together'? And DOESN'T like anything that isn't insulting? Dude is missing out.

  5. Why's everyone always standing by the old Simpsons? The really early ones were utter shit, and even in the so called 'golden age' there were crap episodes every now and then -- even in quite large clusters. I think the Simpsons is in a rough patch right now but I sure wouldn't be surprised if they go through a great bunch of episodes in a few months.

  6. You heard him, MRTIM. You need to make a cartoon.

  7. he's clearly too young to recall the massive controversies caused by the simpsons. many schools had bans on simpson t-shirts.

  8. Sure there were bad Simpsons episodes in the seasons 2-9, I don't think any one is denying that. However the ratio of good episodes (and hell even decent ones) to downright shitty ones has skewed rapidly for the worse.

  9. I think the point isn't that he doesn't like the Simpsons, but his reason behind it. Someone is trying WAY too hard to be edgy and cool.

  10. Hypothetical question: If a bunch of people started trolling this guy saying that The Simpsons offends them, would he suddenly start liking it?

  11. @Ross: No, because it doesn't make fun of EVERYONE

  12. Sounds like a Seth Mcfarlane fanboy to me.

  13. Speaking of the Simpson's, I really hope MR TIM looks like Comic Book Store Guy.

  14. I wonder how many people remember that back in the early '90s people *were* calling "The Simpsons" offensive.

  15. Rootfish: Seth cartoons constantly push liberal BS, so they wouldn't be offensive to liberals, therefore wouldn't offend EVERYONE....so he can't be a fan of that either.

  16. Seth cartoons constantly push liberal BS? Care to elaborate?
Disagree with your assessment, I think a lot of people both liberal and conservative find Family Guy offensive for various reasons. I'm not really a fan of it, but it does seem to be an equal opportunity offender.

  17. I've seen an effort to balance the liberal vs conservative perspective on Family Guy, but it's clearly a deliberate effort. The default voice of the show does speak from a very liberal frame of reference. They're at their best when they just stay clear of politics.

  18. ...and, again, the utter strangeness of the comments overwhelms the humor of the cartoon.

  19. The Simpsons is a great show. Zombie Simpsons is an entirely different, unrelated show. The Simpsons is funny. Zombie Simpsons is not.
