Huh. What was the age gap between these two. I had a Sectaur when I was a kid, and I'm in my thirties. Bionicles is new lego right? for like twelve year olds?
dan wars- this kid Galen I knew in grade school's uncle was on the design team for Sectaurs, as well as Bogglins, and a few other weird 80s toys. He had every one, which drove me crazy as a kid. Luckily, he was a nice kid, so I got a lot of play time out of his uncle's profession.
I'm a bit too young to remember the Sectaurs, but I'd rather have a collection of those on display than a collection of bionicles, as would any sane person. Fair play to her boyfriend.
Any of ya'll who denounce Bionicle are not as obsessively nerdy as you really should be. It was a 10 year line, made by lego, with an astonishingly in-depth(although admittedly horribly written) storyline and EXCELLENT figures. The quality was greatest the first year(2001) and went more-or-less directly downhill from there, but remained a fond memory that makes me more angry about LEGO's replacement of it with hero factory- until I saw the figures and realized that, unlike the past 9 years of bionicle, the figures didn't suck.
Man, Bionicle never had a castle with a big-ass monster that was a FUCKING PUPPET, which, at the time, was a big "Eat Shit!" to Castle Grayskull. And before any of y'all start up a debate about Sectaurs vs. Masters of the Universe, please note that, at the end of the day, they both fucking suck.

DUDE!! I haven't seen a Sectaur in yeeears!! not since i seen one on Robot Chicken and even longer before that! i think i want a part time job @ your shop LOL!
Who are these fucking people are where do I watch them from a distance???
ReplyDeleteToday's comic could have been a quote from Big Bang Theory if the show were really as nerdy as it wants to be.
ReplyDeleteWow, I had a Sectaur figure as a child. I used it to play with my He-Man figures as I had no clue what a Sectaur was.

ReplyDeleteHah, I prettymuch forgot about Sectaurs. I'm not as much a toy nut but those are more unique than contemporary bionicles.
ReplyDeleteOf course they're both foolish.

ReplyDeleteIt sure is great when people in a relationship call each other "asshole" when arguing about something so petty.

ReplyDeleteI thought it said secateurs at first. That collection would have been awesome and worthy of an asylum.
ReplyDeletePerhaps there is room for a spin-off comic, "Our Valued Commenters."
ReplyDeletethat dragon and dog thing both sucked real hard. fucking lame.

This is the first time I've seen anyone acknowledge that Sectaur toys actually existed.
