"My parents are lucky I'm even coming home for Christmas break," and her friend said "What do you mean?" and she said...

  1. Come on, this is like first week mistakes that I'm seeing here. GOD MOM, I thought you were a professional.

  2. It is funny as a single panel but the lead-in is amusing enough that maybe you should consider running two- or three-panel cartoons from time to time-- or at least a longer panel just to fit the "My parents are lucky..." preamble which really underlines how valued this customer really is.

  3. I agree with her, she must be useless because she had YOU as a daughter!

  4. Why does her mom have to send her cards?

  6. You do know the mum was probably like, "My stupid daughter's still playing children's card games, I'll send her Pokemon cards then maybe she'll see what a baby she is!"

  7. Hey man, don't knock children's cardgames, fun stuff. This chick is a bitch though.

  8. They're lucky? I think they'd be luckier if she stayed put and didn't visit them. Especially if that is her attitude.

  9. Just shows what whiny babies that more and more (NOT ALL, mind you) people of 25 and below are becoming with all this PC garbage filling their heads...

Wait, what? PC garbage? Like Politically Correct? Cuz that can't be right. Personal Computer? Nope.

    Pokemon Cards? I guess? What?

  12. I agree with Fisty Dollars. That "PC garbage" comment makes no sense.

Yugioh? Pokemon? Did I go to sleep and pull a reverse Van Winkle, waking up a decade ago?

  14. Oh come on, you know he meant "politically correct". He's just a wingnut commenter that got lost. He couldn't say "liberal" because that would have made less than no sense, so he fell back on his OTHER standard.

    p.s. Dimes to donuts it's a he.

  15. I agree with Ian Thal. The daily strip format would fit this one rather nicely.

  16. I disagree with Ian Thal and twobitspecialist. I like the format as it is.

  17. The Pokemon card game is actually very popular. Still!

This is the kind of adult who means well but never gets it right: like the grandparent who hears you like Toy Story and buys the $4.99 VHS tape of "Tales of the Toys" starring "Cowboy Lumberhead" and "Astronaut Blast Blastyear."

Kids never appreciate the effort that went into at least trying to get something you'd like. It's always about YOU, ain't it, kid?

  18. I don't think her parents are lucky at all.

  19. her "useless" mom is probably paying her daughter's way through school. she should stop and make her go to community college.

  20. Sounds like it's time for an abortion :-D

  21. Stupid collectible card games are going to exist forever, I guess it just depends on which generation you are born in as to which is more, "worthy?"

I remember getting all bent out of shape about getting the cool cards in the days of M:TG The Dark.

  22. Considering the daughter's attitude, and the fact that her "coming home for christmas" depended on a pack of cards, it wouldnt be too outlandish to think that the buying of Pokemon cards was deliberate.

While I do find this unreasonable, my friend and I have mourned as at a funeral when his mother goes to the comic book store while we're stuck and school to buy a new comic and comes back with the WRONG ONE.
