On why I shouldn't be excited to see TRON Legacy...

  1. Was he really wearing a "Worst. Episode. Ever." shirt? Because that makes this so much better if he was.

  2. And Avatar was a ripoff of Dances with Wolves. Which was a ripoff of...

...in any case, what's his point? Love how he can dismiss a movie he can't possibly have seen yet.

  3. hahaha, a single tear rolls down my eye.

Tron is about as close to as an Avatar rip off as Avatar is ripping off Spongebob

  4. Avatar lost me when they left the Southern Water Tribe and then all these 8ft tall blue people showed up.

  5. I want to knock this guy's drink out of his hand.

At the comic shop where I worked we would have refused to sell anything to this guy (but that was before the recession).

  6. Excited, not exited.

  7. You all are missing the point. The new Tron movie is a sequel to the old Tron movie. WHICH CAME OUT BEFORE THAT SHITTY AVATAR MOVIE.

    I weep for the future.

  8. And Short Circut is a rip-off of Wall-E.

  9. Which is ironic since Avatar is similar to Ferngully.

  10. The youth know nothing of classic movies...it brings a tear to my eye. What makes it better though is the first Star Wars movie he saw was Phantom Menace, so he's probably insulting more classics!!!

  11. @10:22 Anonymous: Yeah, well I heard that the makers of the original Tron went to the future, saw Avatar, and decided to rip it off.

But then when they went back to the past, they forgot everything that they'd learned in the future, which is why Tron and Avatar are not very similar.

  12. Look, let's all agree that Avatar ripped off, at minimum, half a dozen different movies. None of which bore the slightest resemblance to Tron.

  13. @Martha: Yeah, well I heard that James Cameron saw the original Tron and saw that it bore an uncanny resemblance to his film so, after finding the time machine belonging to the makers of the original Tron, went back and told them to change their film if they knew what was good for them so all of this is going to collapse as a new time stream aligns itself.

  14. Ive already seen the new Tron movie....not once did I think "Hey, you know what movie this is exactly like? Avatar. This is such a ripoff. I demand the 0$ I spent back."

I'm trying to think how he connected the two. Person transported into a fantastic glowy world maybe?

  15. When Avatar was in theaters I wanted to kill myself the customers were so annoying! And every single one of them said, "its just a rip off of _____" But! Everyone said a different fucking movie! It all comes down to the old theory that there are only really X number of original ideas, and it really is true. That being said Avatar to me was enjoyable and entertaining to watch and mostly a good movie.

P.S. Tron is automatically good in my books because of the Daft Punk sound track. =P

    Truly tragic.

  17. Fools like this make me laugh. The sad thing is, too many of them are out there.

  18. I've decided that I'm going to go around looking for the best time to use the lines quoted on this site and then make little comics about the reactions of the people I say them to.

  19. I think you will find that every movie made since 1940 is an Avatar rip-off. Terminator? Avatar rip-off. Back to the Future? Avatar rip-off. Fantasia? Avatar rip-off.

  20. All my HATE. All my RAGE. Hell, I even didn't mind Avatar all that much, but that comment makes me want to join the Red Lantern Corps.

  21. But he's absolutely right... in the sense that the only reason to watch Tron Legacy is because of the 3D, same as Avatar. Aside from that, it's crap.
