Fall is upon us...

  1. And those friends tend to be the ones who don't see the irony in praising all things bacon.

  2. This is usually the nail in the coffin of any trend.

First there's the people who love the thing - whatever the thing is.

Then you get the contrarians who need to make a big show out of how much they hate the thing. They're not like those other folk, you see. Their tastes can't be controlled by the mainstream (even though their tastes always run exactly 180 degrees from the mainstream, thus still letting it control them).

Next you get the "I can't believe you care so much about that thing" people. It's like they're saying, "Who, me? I'm so cool and aloof, that thing has no effect on my lie whatsoever. But I'm still totally going to mention it, because it's obviously cool to talk about."

Then you get smarmy jerks like me who point out all of the above. And even at myself.

Honestly the only way to win is not to play. Otherwise it's just dicks all the way down.

    1. Pumpkin Spice flavour of what? I don't even know what this game is. Does that mean I win?

    2. Actually I'm pretty sure that a perfectly valid way to win is to enjoy what you enjoy, whether it be trendy, anti-trendy, or completely apart from the trendy spectrum.

Unless that's what you mean by not playing.

But I mean, if you like pumpkin spice, have yourself some pumpkin spice with my blessing. That's right, the blessing of an anon in the comments section of a webcomic about comic shop customers.

  4. I like pumpkin spice chai lattes. Adds more spicyness. Eggnog chai is even better.
