  5. This guy isn't saying anything new. According to Palladium Books, the original TMNT role-playing game was one of their biggest sellers... until the 1987 cartoon came out. Playmates' incarnation of the Turtles slowed book sales to a crawl. People who considered themselves "old" fans didn't want to be associated with the new, kid-friendly versions, and therefore found other RPGs to play.

    But that's fandom for you. Any time a new version of a thing comes out, a bunch of people who consider themselves the "old guard" tell you how much the new one sucks, and that "their" version of the thing was so much better.

  6. Ninja Turtles sold out. They went from a gimmicky toy line to a national treasure gimmicky toy line, the bastards.
