This guy isn't saying anything new. According to Palladium Books, the original TMNT role-playing game was one of their biggest sellers... until the 1987 cartoon came out. Playmates' incarnation of the Turtles slowed book sales to a crawl. People who considered themselves "old" fans didn't want to be associated with the new, kid-friendly versions, and therefore found other RPGs to play.
But that's fandom for you. Any time a new version of a thing comes out, a bunch of people who consider themselves the "old guard" tell you how much the new one sucks, and that "their" version of the thing was so much better.
$5 bet this guy kicks puppies.

Ninja Turtles sold out. They went from a gimmicky toy line to a national treasure gimmicky toy line, the bastards.
