"Independant" as opposed to "tie-in", I suppose. :-/
He's clearly forgotten about Pacific Rim.
I was thinking about that great recent indie film "Guardians of the Galaxy", but you've probably never heard of it.
Snicker.
"Independent" I don't think that word means what you think it means.
I know he's using the word wrong, but I totally know what he means.
Great 'Princess Bride' reference, by the way.
I think he means "Independent" the same way Minecraft or Super Meat Boy is "Independent". Small budget, big payoff.
I don't think either Fight Club or the first Matrix qualify as "small budget". I think what he means is "not part of a pre-existing franchise or based on a book or comic book or TV show or...".
But "Fight Club" was based on a novel.
Either he didn't know that - as I didn't - or I'm wrong then. There goes my record...
