To her boyfriend...

  1. True, people who think they're especially great for not using facebook are annoying. The way it really works is that people who don't use facebook are normal average people, and people who DO use it are despicable filth.

    1. Not only do I hope you're serious, I honestly hope you don't realize the irony of your statement.

  2. I generally agree, with two exceptions:

    1. The anti-Facebook people I know generally limit their argument to "social networking is for 13 year olds and pedophiles" (which was a more accurate statement when MySpace was a thing).

    2. If I weren't on Facebook, I'd be much happier because I wouldn't have to deal with smug-yet-uninformed political shares.

    1. Yeah I have those friends and relatives who post 90% political content. It gets to be tiresome. I decided to stay away from Facebook during the recent presidential election.

Although I still use Facebook, because it's the best way to get in touch with a few of my friends, I MUCH prefer Twitter.

  4. I notice she does not say he is wrong, only that he is annoying for talking about it.

    1. yes. rejecting facebook is an act that does not require explanation or justification. instead, proceed directly to next step: mock and troll people for their love of facebook, under the assumption that they already know all of the many reasons why facebook is lame and sucks.

  5. This kind of reminds me of Mac user/PC user arguments, except that in my experience the snobbery has been completely reversed. All the Mac owners I know, never talk about the fact that they use a Mac. Half of the PC users I know, always attacking Mac users because 'you could have spent a fraction of the money and got a system equally good' or 'Macs are for people who are computer illiterate' or 'people who buy Apple products are just sheep' or 'YOU NOT HAS GAMEZ HA HA' and so on.

But apparently it is the MAC users who are snobs? Whatev.

    1. if you think snobbery is chastising people for spending way more on an item than they'd pay for a comparable item from rival brands, then i don't think snobbery means what you think it means.

    2. You knew really weird Mac users, then. All the Mac users I ever knew growing up were THE hugest snobs ever. PC users never made a big deal about it 'cause it's a PC. But Mac fanatics, man, all they could ever talk about was how superior they and their computers were to everyone who didn't use one. Man, I hated Mac Expo time. It was like watching cultists drool over how dreamy their leader was.

Though, admittedly, things have calmed down somewhat (though not completely) ever since owning a Mac went mainstream.

    3. The non-generative technology approach taken by all current Apple products makes them a despicable company in my eyes. When you know that they started as members of a home-brew computer club, it makes it even worse.

  6. It seems to me that the only people that I've met who feel that Apple should be held to higher principles and standards than other companies are people who don't even use their products (usually out of spite). They scoff and snark whenever news is released about deplorable work conditions in their Chinese factories but gloss over the fact that it's exactly the same way in Samsung's and all of the others. At least Apple can guarantee a quality product that won't break. They may not be as fast as some PCs, but they ARE more reliable, and some of us are willing to pay extra for that. It all comes down to what is important for you, and most of what PC users complain about in regards to Apple are complete non-issues for me. If my words anger you, then you are the one with the problem, not I.

    1. who's angry? i don't see any angry people in here except you and that other guy that started randomly spouting off about how mac users are so unfairly reviled, belittled, and persecuted by all of the mean PC users.
