  1. In the idiot's defence, it IS a Michael Bay related movie also featuring Megan Fox. The "oh dear, this could be very bad" quotient is quite high with this one...

(I'm not sure "quotient" is the word I'm after, but nonetheless...)

    1. And yet, somehow my childhood is still intact despite Transformers, GI Joe, and now this. Go figure. It's almost like what happens now doesn't retroactively change what happened 25 years ago.

    2. Then why use "quotient" if you're not sure. Using big words doesn't make you seem smart it makes you seem like a douche - and that goes double if you don't know how to use them

  2. I feel like he is talking right to me. And for the record, I quit caring about the Ninja Turtles 20 years ago, not 25!

  3. I still love the Ninja Turtles.
The IDW comics have been great and I look forward to them in my pull list a ton every month.

That being said the only thing that annoys me about this movie is talking about the TMNT for the next few years will lead to occasionally the everyday non comic reading guy to try and interject by talking about this future travesty.

But thats really not so bad. Somewhat annoying, but not some sort of LIFE RUINING WAAAAAAH thing.

  4. I really hope he was talking to the guy from the OVC comic from May 7th. And that the May 7th guy is also the one the man from OVC #1000 is talking too. The idea that one grown person went rant about how Power Rangers, Sesame Street and TNMT no longer target him as a customer and how they've gone down in quality would be hilariously sad-but still not surprising.

  7. You don't have to pursue every single thing connected to whatever. I was stone-cold over Star Wars as of "Attack of the Clones;" every Trekkie has a list of movies and episodes he chooses to ignore (or, alternately, whine and sob about until everyone runs at the sight of him); DC is still being handicapped by continuity-obsessed morons who want current stories reconciled with insanely stupid nonsense from sixty years ago.

I'm just glad the phrase "raped my childhood" has finally fallen out of everyday use. Yeah, a crappy Transformers movie is EXACTLY LIKE THAT, whiny little pig.

  8. Well, it's actually a movie based on a cartoon series based on a comic book, but i can't say that he hasn't a point.
Personally, i shall simply ignore the movie and continue enjoy the imho rather good CGI-series.

  10. Yeah, "ruined my childhood" is an overused statement. But it doesn't change the fact that when something that you loved as a child is about to make some comeback today, you DO tend to get excited, even if you haven't cared about it in years. And Bay (and many other filmmakers) has a habit of completely destroying that childish excitement. SO, in conclusion of my rant, I think that's where the phrase comes from.

    1. I don't think of it so much as ruining my own childhood as short-changing my kid's childhoods. I mean I grew up with some truly awesome stuff. I mean yes they were 30 minute ads for toys, but the toys were The Best Toys Ever. My own kids? Not so much. They don't bother watching the crap shows put out today and they don't want the toys. And I can't blame them. Even the classics have been repackaged for them in a way that ruins everything that was once good about them. Seriously: "Transformer" toys that don't even transform? Fail.

Now that my kids are old enough to appreciate the same Awesome Stuff I enjoyed, Hollywood hands it of to a hack like Bay and RUINS IT FOR THEM.

  11. Working for a toy company. Now THAT ruins your childhood.

  12. I don't believe anyone actually says something "ruined/raped their childhood"

  13. I'm assuming that this person received a lifetime ban from the store for such a logical, level-headed comment.

  14. This guy isn't being very exact. 25 years ago was May 1988. Hardly anybody knew what Ninja Turtles was back then. It became a hit when it was syndicated starting September 1989 and continued to be popular into the middle of the 1990s.
