While discussing the AVENGERS movie...

  1. I like the phonebook. Not much plot, but a whole lot of characters.

    1. Yeah. But they all show up in alphabetical order...

  2. I just hope he has his Joss Whedon trope bingo card ready to go.

    1. The worst thing about Joss Whedon is that he writes exactly like Joss Whedon.

  3. I suppose that would explain Alien: Resurrection.

  4. "Phonebook 2: Wrath of the Yellow Pages'!

  5. He could make it, but blame everyone else but himself when it ended up sucking/not doing well.

    1. He's had plenty of flops. Actually pretty much all flops. Who has be blamed for those? What a stupid comment. ( yours not mine :) )

  6. After the first couple issues of the Buffy Season 8 comic, I got off of the "Joss can do no wrong" train.

    1. Get up to date with season 9 and you should be back on the train. 8 was a mess, but 9 is amazing so far.

    2. Exactly my experience. I hesitate to say in fanboy territory that Cabin in the Woods made me realize that it's not just comic books that he can screw up himself, either.

  7. Spoken like a true fanboi.

  8. Joss is by no means infallible, but I'd still have put an "it's true" tag on this.

  9. It's like he read my mind. I've been disapointed in the past, but after reading season 9, I'm back on the Joss Is Boss train. This can not be non-brilliant. He has a bunch of cool characters, get to be wacky(flying bug machine everyone) and it just seems like it will be good.

Joss Whedon, huh? I never knew that the Avengers was a team of teenage girls.

    1. I didn't watch Buffy or Angel, but I really liked Firefly, and the second season of Dollhouse was pretty good. There weren't teen-aged girls in those. Close, but all in their twenties.

I gave Buffy a try, couldn't get into it. I really liked Firefly, too, but was not a big fan of the movie, mainly because of the direction they took with River (and wasn't she a teenager? Maybe early 20s, but I'm in my forties, so it's all the same to me, pretty much.)

    3. Her age at the beginning of firefly was around fourteen.

Thanks, Anon. It's good to know that age hasn't eroded my memory completely yet.

    5. Whaaaat? On Buffy there was a few teenage girls, like three in the credits at the most, out of a main cast of around 7. Not really overwhelming. And on Firefly there was one, on Dollhouse none(I assume)and on Angel there was one in her late teens.

  11. Pretty much how I feel about Nic Cage.

  12. Hey dude,Joss Whedon is having a very special screening of that very movie @ A Cabin In The Woods that he owns. Email me for direction, hope you can make it!

  13. Maybe I'm just too old, cynical and cold-hearted, but IMO Buffy was just too goofy with pathetically incompetent villains. Angel was a little better, but not enough. Firefly had a ridiculously huge number of inhabitable planets all crammed into one solar system. Obviously a Sci-Fi show won't adhere to perfect science, but having a dozen planets all in the life zone stretches things just a bit too much.

  14. You know...I would actually like to see that happen.

  15. Joss would make an awesome TV show based on the Phonebook, but it'd a terribly unfulfilling ending after it gets cancelled half way through H.

  16. Whedon could write a movie about the phonebook and a small cluster of fans would swear it's the best thing since sliced bread, half a dozen people would account for 99% of the internet "discussion" on the movie (which would basically be that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and if you don't agree you clearly haven't watched it), and the rest of us would be off watching something good instead.

    1. Funny, you talk about these amazing non-Whedon shows, yet rather than actually watching them, you're here attacking people for daring to have different taste to you. Thanks for making Firefly haters look bad, it makes me laugh.

    2. Ha ha! You touchy little girl.

    3. LOL love it. I think I'd be curious to hear what the, "something good instead" is for that author. CSI? LOST? Maybe Mad Men?

      Curious.

    4. Funny, I had no idea. I guess I belong to the the 1%. And the other reasonable Firefly fans, who are well above a dozen, I know are my made up friends.

    5. I'm on season two of Sliced Bread. Don't spoil it for me.

  18. I thought that exact thought, word for word, yesterday after watching the latest Avengers' clip.

    Weird.

  19. I'm only a little ashamed about the fact that I would watch the shit out of phonebook the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, but then he'd kill half the phone book for the hell of it.

    1. I watched it on DVD and I enjoyed it. I dont think its the be-all end-all for everything in the universe as some in here do but I did enjoy it quite a bit. More than the serenity movie anyway.

  21. Firefly is just bad TV. It was trite, boring, poorly acted, slow, and poorly paced. It's just technically unsound television. If you LIKE B grade TV then, by all means.
Not much else to say about it.

  22. Wow you're not even trying to hide the fact that you're a troll ... Have some standards.

    1. A Joss Whedon fan talking about having standards. How adorable.
