After I complimented him on his SUPERBOY t-shirt...

  1. Be grateful he wasn't wearing his Krytpo The Superdog t-shirt.

  2. It'd be a great job, if it wasn't for the fucking customers.

  3. Everyone knows you don't mess with the S.

  4. This is obviously your own fault for complimenting a customer

  5. Especially one of THESE customers

  6. Proof that trying to be nice just doesn't pay off. Hell, I've had my head bitten off by customers just for saying "Good morning." to them.

  7. These comics serve as an almost daily reminder for why I no longer work retail.

  10. curious about how someone determines that a shirt with a big S on it is a superboy shirt rather than a superman shirt.

    1. The black shirt with the Red S is Superboy

Superman and Superboy each have their own color schemes. I'd imagine the base color of the shirt in question was black, and the insignia was done in all red. This is as opposed to Superman, whose colors are red, yellow, and blue.

...hmm, and I usually have this arguement in reverse. "It's SuperBOY, dude", "Yeah, but... you're so old..." :P

But the question is, why didn't you just school this punk and hold up an issue of Superboy with said T-shirt on?

  13. @ZombiWorkshop: My guess is that if Mr Tim were to school people every time they were wrong in the store, he'd be doing that all day. :P

  14. Anonymous 10:13pm needs to hand in their comic book fan license.

But yea, people who buy their superhero shirts at Hot-Topic and Target shouldn't question the guy in the comic store.

  15. @coff: hey, that's a very narrow view of what "comic book" means. i can be a fan of the comic book medium without keeping up on the minutia of the superhero genre within it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. or without WANTING to keep up on those minutia, even.

  17. Well, there's your mistake, right there. Clearly you should have told him that his Bizarro shirt was spelled wrong.

    @Anon 10:42 and coff:

Different Anon here, but I have to agree. I have a Batman shirt that's purple with a blue and yellow logo. It's still a Batman shirt. I also have a Batman hoodie that's purple with a black logo. Again, still a Batman hoodie. But Batgirl typically has a logo that's different from the various logos that Batman has worn over the years. Superman, Superboy, Krypto, and Superman's entire birth family use the _SAME_LOGO_. Not every S-logo shirt matches one of the Super-family color schemes, though it's a fair bet that the pink ones are Supergirl shirts. And while it's also a fair bet that a black shirt w/ red logo is a Superboy shirt, since he even wears that shirt in the Young Justice series, but maybe the person wearing it is a huge Superman or Supergirl fan that just happens to love the black/red color scheme. And what about a blue shirt with a yellow logo? Superman or Supergirl? What if it's being worn by a girl? And what if she's a huge fan of Superman? Or maybe it's being worn by a guy who's a huge fan of Supergirl? Or what if it's green with a black logo? If it's a backwards S-logo, or there's a cleavage-baring hole in the front, it's pretty easy to match to the character, but too damn many people wear that S-logo to make it a guaranteed reference.

  18. You know what I find so funny about this?

That was essentially Superboy's OWN reaction to being called Superboy when he first appeared. XD

It may technically, overall, be a Superman shirt, but it is, at the very least, ALSO still a Superboy shirt.
