  1. Dr. Richards, Dr. Doom sent you an inter-departmental memo, it reads "Fag."

  3. This young lad seems to be suffering from delusions of grandeur. I reccommend a punch in the face.

  6. Nice casual emophobia in the comments.

  7. So he's an emopster?

  8. Homophobia my ass. As far as I'm concerned the meaning of that phrase was decided thirty or forty years ago when George Carlin described it's use during his childhood (the 50's), saying that 'a fag was just a sissy'.

It's the perfectly appropriate term to describe an emo.

Sissy is also a gay pejorative. I'm straight, but I have a lot of gay friends--I also got called "fag" quite a bit when I was a teenager. Saying it just means sissie is like saying the N-- word just means lazy. Please knock it off.

  10. Shut the fuck up, the word has nothing to do with gay people any longer, much like it no longer has anything to do with sticks. For fuck's sake, every time someone is called a fag on the Internet there's some piece of shit trying to control what other people say.

Brad the Dad, you're an enormous fucking fag.

  11. fag is a cigarette.

Sissy is a comment on general behavior, not partnership preferences.

they, of course, can be used for hate. But most things can. (and are)

Words are words. Intent is the key to understanding.

  12. Now I understand why Tigerama never posts here anymore. Sheesh.

I generally agree that intent is the important thing. BUT, when you use an offensive word, then act like it's my problem when I call you on it, is the action of a child. But, it's no skin off my nose. Go ahead, keep using the words--some day some sissy fag is going to take you to school. I only wish it was me.

  15. Remember, calling someone a "fag" is childish, but wanting to beat people up over the internet because they said things you disagree with is a mature and thoughtful response.

  16. Sweet spermatazoa of Krakatoa, is this an embarrassing thread.

It used to be about the comics.

  17. Maybe if he invented shit he should give some to the guy in the previous comic. Then they both could give a shit.

  18. Wonderful debate on language and homosexuality! Now, what is everyone's political and religious views?

  19. Boo Hoo Maybe you're not a homophobic prick and maybe you live in a post gay la la land, but you sound pretty clueless. When someone calls me a fag it doesn't make me cry or feel bad about myself, it just makes me assume that I'm talking to an asshole and a bully.

Thousands of kids--gay and straight--feel pretty bad about being called a fag daily. Are these the nobodies you're talking about.

  21. I'm seeing these comments and all I'm reading is "I'm going to tell you that your name-calling is offensive, but then I'm going to get defensive and justify why my name-calling is OK"

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well gang, it was fun while it lasted. Last one out, turn off the lights.

  23. Nice flamewar going on in the comments here. It doesn't matter anyway. This emo kid invented being gay.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So... Does the guy running this place moderate the comments at all or are we to assume homophobic slurs are cool?

    ReplyDelete
  25. For the record, free speech works both ways. You have the right to say what you want, but I have the right to call you a dick for saying it.

Anyway, yeah. I may keep reading the comic, but I can definitely do without all this. I wrote, re-wrote, and ultimately deleted a response to all this, but this tears it.

  26. Fuck, it's dark in here.

  27. M. Garrett Steele, you could always, you know, grow some balls and not get so offended on the internet. Alternatively, you could stop reading the comments altogether. You won't be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  28. And this comment section proves once again, that emos are the greatest threat to humanity known today.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @anonymous at 7:11am. m garrett steele was not getting easily offended, he was lamenting the fact that this blog has become something it wasn't until recently, an offensive rant about anything but comics anymore. first tigerama, now slade grayson, and finally m garrett steele. you know, this blog just isn't worth reading anymore.

  30. Stop being fags and read the comic.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, the appropriate response to everything is to be a massive tool -- the likes of which this blog is intended to mock -- then when people call you on it, to blame them for your behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, they're right. I used to enjoy comments by the regulars on here as much as the comics. But then the comments turned into hate-filled rants...much like all the other sites on the Internet. You know, where people purposely say things to anger others so they can spark an argument because it's the only way they can get attention?
And before anyone else says it, yes I'm a fag.

  33. Egads, I don't normally comment, but I have to say, hasn't anyone ever heard of not feeding the trolls.

  34. Looks like he is trying to invent hair on his upper lip.

  35. If we have found patient zero for Emo, maybe we can wipe out the plague once and for all

  36. Dear straight people,
Please stop white-knighting for the sake of the gays, when someone isn't actually insulting them.

I'm a lesbian, and I have 3 gay friends. We all use the term "fag" in a derogatory fashion, but we don't use it to refer to someone's sexual orientation. It's more like calling someone a douche or shithead or what have you. If someone uses the term as an offensive slur toward gays, yeah, that's messed up, but, without context that shows that intent, I don't find it any more offensive that any other insult.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, well if you and ALL three of your gay friends say it's cool, then nevermind!

I didn't know we had spokespeople now to tell us what we shouldn't find insulting. My mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Only the offended can say if a word is offensive. No one person can determine that for everyone else. We all have to just accept that some things out there will bother us, and somethings about us will bother others. Get on with life. Stop fighting on the internet.

    Fags.
