Where to begin here? Since when is Peter Parker Jewish? Not even in the Ultimate Universe that's the case! And even if Peter was: This isn't Peter Parker!
What next? A Spider WOMAN? Or a Spider GIRL? What's she gonna do, cry the whole time on be on her spider pms and lay spider baby eggs? Cry me a river, liberal.
Shabbos Chanukah is no different from a regular Shabbos. Although whether or not Spider-Man would be allowed to do anything to help is a very interesting question. I could see a way to justify it both ways, but I'm not an expert in the relevant laws.
That said, he's a Gentile anyway. He just talks like a Jew sometimes because he was raised in Queens, surrounded by hordes of us. A lot of people in New York use certain Yiddish words and occasionally syntax for that reason.
In general, I wouldn't assume that a character's a Jew if it isn't specified. The odds would certainly be against them, us being about 1% of America. And "Parker" is not at all a Jewish surname. Then again, neither are "Grimm" and "Pryde".
Damn Obama with his African voodoo powers magicifying the Marvel team to add diversity to their heroes! How dare they! Next there'll probably be a black Green Lantern! And that's just silly! They'll probably try to sneak it by us normal folk by giving him a proper white name like "Stewart Johnson" or something. Damn liberals, thinking everyone is equal!
The stupid, it hurts.
ReplyDelete"He's not Jewish? But there's an 'er' in his name." (with apologies to Northern Exposure)
ReplyDeleteBecause Obama totally had a hand in this?
ReplyDeleteObama has a hand in everything, you stooge.
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteDamn that Obama always putting black people in our media! (If you can't tell this is sarcasm.)
ReplyDeleteDamn that Obama always putting black people in our media! (If you can't tell, I'm absolutely serious)
ReplyDeleteHey, cool! Yeah, this was only the beginning of his tirade, believe me.
ReplyDeletemy favorite issue of spider-man was when the sinister six attacked new york on a saturday during hanukkah and spider-man couldn't do shit about it.
ReplyDeleteBeing Jewish must've been a real conundrum for Peter Porker, The Amazing Spider-Ham.
ReplyDeletePeanut butter in my chocolate? That ain't supposed to BE. Damn Obama.
ReplyDeleteThe profundity of his stupidity leaves me stunned.
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin here?
ReplyDeleteSince when is Peter Parker Jewish? Not even in the Ultimate Universe that's the case!

AND OBAMA? WHAT?!?
WHAT?
IN THE BUTT!
ReplyDeletea black Spider-Man? damn Childish Gambino!
ReplyDeleteWhat next? A Spider WOMAN? Or a Spider GIRL? What's she gonna do, cry the whole time on be on her spider pms and lay spider baby eggs? Cry me a river, liberal.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that Ben Grimm and Megneto are the only silver age Marvel characters who have been identified as Jewish.
ReplyDeleteNot true, Ian. There was also The Blue Dreidel. Ah, but nobody remembers The Blue Dreidel anymore...
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on "What-What In The Butt."
ReplyDeleteNot true, Ian. There was also The Blue Dreidel. Ah, but nobody remembers The Blue Dreidel anymore...
ReplyDeletePoor Blue Dreidel, doesn't even have a wikipedia page. Was he in the Avengers?
"Being Jewish must've been a real conundrum for Peter Porker, The Amazing Spider-Ham."
ReplyDeletetrue, but consider, we don't eat human (generally), so yea, he wouldn't eat pork ie. himself.
"true, but consider, we don't eat human (generally), so yea, he wouldn't eat pork ie. himself."
ReplyDeletePeter Porker was a spider that got bitten by a radioactive pig. He wasn't a pig anymore than Peter Parker is a spider. And that's one to grow on.
Very good comments people. (Not sarcasm)
ReplyDeleteSpider-Man is colour blind, obviously.
ReplyDeleteThe Blue Dreidel: A precursor to Red Tornado, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteDo we not consider Kitty Pryde to be Silver-ish Age-ish, Ian? Kind of?
ReplyDeleteDo we ever have a real line on Peter's faith? I mean, it could BE Jewish, considering his creators and all.
His funeral wasn't in a temple...

Or, you know - Lee.
ReplyDeleteLee's real last name was Leiber, pengo.
ReplyDeletebuddhist nymph, you're a wee touch late, right?
ReplyDeleteExactly, Lugh... maybe `Pryde' and `Grimm' were altered too at some point. Preidler and Grimzburg maybe?

ReplyDeleteHm, did I overdo that joke? Oh well.
Next there'll probably be a black Black Lantern, and that's just silly...
