Regarding the KING OF THE HILL episode that was playing...

  1. Assuming that he was actually wearing a Stewie shirt, it looks like his idea of "joke" is saying something mean about someone.

  2. I enjoy King of the Hill, but I actually think this is a valid point. Its the reason I don't watch The Office or Modern Family throwing 8 or so quirky characters together doesn't always make for great comedy. Sometimes it just comes across as an endless bad improv comedy session. King of the Hill has good comedy because it combines the characters with unusual situations that their quirkiness makes them ill-equipped to handle.

  3. Tell him about the connection between King of the Hill and Bevis and Butthead then see if his head explodes.

  4. I actually agree with this one.

  5. I resemble this character.

  6. This is kind of a tough one but TECHNICALLY there aren't gags on the show, but this guy is still a dope for not appreciating one of the funniest shows ever.

In regards to Dave C, it's funny that you mention The Office (I'm assuming you mean the U.S. version). For awhile it was a good show based on a semblance of character development underneath all the awkwardness but now it's just a caricature of itself (also Greg Daniels and Paul Lieberstein both wrote for KoTH).

  7. Now I know you're just making up the shirts.

  8. You see, if there isn't a laugh track, there are no jokes.

  9. It's not that there are no jokes, it's that they aren't funny.

  10. That boy aint right I tell you hwat.

  11. King of the Hill is pretty much the greatest animated comedy of all time. Yes, better than the Simpsons.

  12. Not only greatest animated comedy, I'd say it's one of my favorite tv comedies. I've found that most people who don't like it don't really understand it.

  13. He's a dope all right, but I've never been able to stand King of the Hill, so I can't help but sympathize with him.

  14. According to the Family Guy fan, there are no jokes in King of the Hill.

Yet, it's much funnier to watch random references to 1980s films that he might not understand instead of watching situational comedy.

  15. I have been deprived of King of the Hill for many years now, but what I recall of it was that its dry humour was fantastic. I wonder if this guy also hates Daria, which incidentally also has a close tie to the travesty of television that is Beavis and Butt-head.

If you guys like shows this guy wouild hate, shows that have absolutely no jokes in them, track down the British series called "People Like Us". See how long it takes for you to get it.

  16. Not a fan of stuff like The Office and Parks and Recreation (don't get me started on the Adult Swim/Cartoon Network live-action shows) myself, but I always loved King Of The Hill.

Hank Hill is/was one of the rarest kind of characters on TV: he had common sense. And used it.

If you didn't get at least one chuckle from on episode, it's because you had no idea what a subtle joke was.

  17. I bet he'd hate this webcomic just as much for the exact same reason.

  18. I's lieks that one show when that hank guy says bobby.

  19. I gotta say, Parks and Rec and KoTH have alot more in common than you think. If you take the time, you'd be surprised how amazing Parks is. Definitely one of the most well written comedies on tv today.

  20. I have also been surprised by "Parks and Rec". I watched it at the beginning and didn't like it but the show has really changed from the first season.

  21. This man clearly deserves the "crazies" tag.

  22. I hate people who give you their unsolicited negative opinions. You hate King of the Hill? Okay... cool? What am I supposed to do with that information?

  23. Jeff= exactly.

I don't try to be a dick when someone does that but I just have to go on and say the same thing. How does this further our conversation?

  24. Yeah. Call me a dope if you must, but I don't care for King of the Hill either.

  25. Is your store inside of a combo 7-11/Starbucks? Everyone always has a drink.

  26. Yeah, I don't really like Mike Judge shows at all, so I can't say I disagree with him.

  27. King of the Hill sucks. There's one joke:"this guy is not cool."

  28. It's an acquired taste and very hit or miss, that's for sure. It can also get as preachy as all hell when it wanted to, but it wasn't afraid to take the air out of all that God Bless Texas crap. So I'd say it's mostly a draw.

  29. Haha, I like how people are so quick to say things "suck" if they don't appeal to their sensibilities. To me it's like saying apples suck if you don't like how they taste. No, apples are perfectly fine, they're just not for you apparently.

  30. But Jeff, my opinions are the only ones that matter!

In case though, King of the Hill sucks.

    Also, God Bless Texas.

  31. I love the fact that is tagged as "dopes"
