To her friend...

Huh?

  1. The first sentence is a reference to people hating "muties" because they are different in the comics.

The second sentence nullified any credibility to anything this girl can say for the rest of her natural life.

  2. X-men are a metaphor for almost any minority group. I remember the line from the third movie (I think) where a mother tells her son "haven't you tried not being a mutant?" In turn is asking your son have your kid if they've tried not being a gay, jewish, mexican. You're just born that way.

So according to this girl; If you don't like the X-men series your secretly racist, homophobic, sexist, moral purist nut job?

  3. Because disliking (or just not actively liking and consuming) a story is EXACTLY THE SAME as disagreeing with its message. Nice.

  4. It means that whether you are a racist or not depends on who is writing the series at that point in time.

  5. I'd hate to find out what it means if you don't like Black Panther.

  6. I don't like Avatar so I'm gonna go out and chop down a forest. :)

  9. Well, obviously. That's just science.

  10. Dammit, Chuck Austen made me SO RACIST.

  11. @Starocotes Technically speaking, I don't know if anyone actually LIKES Schindler's List though... ("The feel good movie of the year!")

Oh man, I hated that book "Things Fall Apart." Guess I hate everyone of African descent. Whoops.
Although, honestly, people who don't like X-Men aren't THAT much worse than racists, are they?

  13. Unless she meant people who don't like Xmen (or mutants) IN the comics/movies are racists.

  14. I knew there was a reason for me not having bought any X-men comics... HEIL HITLER!

(Yes, that was a joke, put the voodoo dolls down.)

  15. @BanZZ that doesn't make any less stupid. I don't want to be a grammar prude, but if I don't even know what your saying WITHOUT any slang, you have no right to open your goddamn mouth

  16. I really wish people like this would just stay home, not talk to anyone, and definitely not vote.

  17. I love how people come on here and "explain" these jokes or what the person "probably meant". We all get it already- that's why this comic is hilarious (and simultaneously super-depressing if you have half a brain).
If you need to break these down and spell it out to others- then you are way missing the point of it. Can something so simple REALLY be over your head? Well, seeing as how these comics are capturing real people who actually said these things to begin with, then I guess anything's possible...
Oh yeah, and "I'd hate to find out what it means if you don't like Black Panther." HA! That's great, man... That should be the real punchline to this one.

  18. Hmmm... see I was unaware that disliking soap opera plot lines was the same as racism, go figure.

  19. But what about racists who really like X-Men? Where do they fit in this topsy-turvy world?

  20. I wasn't born Mexican. It is a lifestyle that I choose!

  21. I experimented with Mexicanism in High School and while I loved the food the Mariachi music just wore me down. Then for a while I was just a white guy because it's easy, but that's falling more and more out of favor so after a brief flirt with being a native Hawaiian (which is trendy right now) I'm thinking of becoming Jamaican because I dig the accent and jerk seasonings. And rum.

  22. Now I know what to say the next time somebody tells me "Alien Nation" sucks.

  23. Damn, Mexicans! Aways trying to spread their Mexican agenda.

Won't someone please think of the Children!

  24. I dislike x-men..... and I do know it.

  25. On tv tropes theres a trope dont shoot the message. This is that
