I want to pretend that today's guy is responding to yesterday's guy and each thinks the other is his girlfriend. There's some sweet slacker slashfic in that.
I see this guy at 30, living with his parents, waking up in the same bed he had since he was twelve and wondering why the world hasn't recognized his genius yet. Then he spends a few hours looking at porn on his computer and a few more hours playing his console game and then goes to sleep as the sun comes up. Repeat.
So by dreamer does he mean that he's intensely dedicated to his goals and is willing to forgo comforts in life in order to pursue them, bypassing the stability of a regular job but still managing to cover basic living expenses with odd jobs and freelance work, or does he mean that he sleeps sixteen hours a day?
Yeah, not the Actual 99%, but people who say they are "The 99%". That's precisely why they have time to go and protest other people being richer than they are. (The Actual 99% don't have time to hang out in temporary hippie communes and hold up signs because they're too busy working.)
You know what, I'm meant for better than a regular job too, but at the end of the day, dreams don't pay the bills. Anon 11:12am is absolutely right in his assessment. One more "dreamer" living a completely wasted life.
You guys are such cynics. Just because the reality of life has crushed your spirit/dreams does not give you licence to crush this dreamer and his dreams! Dream out loud brother!
I'm not sure if I should be incensed, but I'm not. If he was forty years old I'd understand, but he looks like a kid. You knew kids like this growing up. They all got jobs, or they became homeless, there's no reason to attack him for thinking he might be better than Burger King. Let's try to be adults.
Meh.... "dopes" maybe, but "jerks"? Because he sees his life as being too valuable to spend five days a week of at some soul-crushing job, for an average salary, for 40 years? Most of us are meant for better than that. It may be naive to think you'll get it, but it's not mean. I hope he does go on to do much better things.
Does it sound to anyone else that he's trying to justify to his lady why she pays for them both? If so, the boy is a douche. If not - well, he still sounds like a douche.
when someone refers to themselves as a "dreamer", what that means is they want everyone else to pay for all of thier expenses while they pursue "whatthefuckever". This is the same mentality in the music scene, when I was the only one working a day job and playing music, but somehow I owed it to the other douchbags to pay thier way on tour. Screw this guy. He has no dream other than being 12 the rest of his life.
Ladies and gentlemen: the future of America!
ReplyDeleteGood, more jobs for the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure playing Angry Birds is helping him achieve his goals.
ReplyDeleteThe girlfriends of these losers must not think very much of themselves.
Well can he put his heads in his head? OH NO!
ReplyDelete"We are the music makers,
ReplyDeleteAnd we are the dreamers of dreams..."
Whatever man. Dream while you can, soon you will have to get up and go to work.
McDonalds wouldn't even hire this guy.

ReplyDeleteThis guy looks like the adolescent muggle version of Prof. Snape.
ReplyDelete@Anon 07:33 AM - GENIUS!

ReplyDelete...sounds like you know a little too much about this, yourself.
DeleteYes. It does seem overly detailed. Just way too many friends that have explored this "life option."
DeleteThis is filed under Jerks instead of Dopes?

ReplyDeleteWhoa~ I was just TOTALLY featured in an OVC Comic!!! ...why the fuck was I wearing that gay ass shirt?
ReplyDeleteMust be "SWEET" to have a handicap placard and front door parking.

ReplyDeleteAnd this is why our generation is a total failure and a majority of the Occupy Movement are lame hypocrites.
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm one to talk either..
