I thought one of the major purposes of making references was to make people curious so they'd track down the reference and learn something. The first half-dozen seasons of "The Simpsons" were practically a third parent to me in that regard.
As I survey the complete disaster my two-year-old has made of the living room in approximately one hour while wrestling her and fending off her punches to get the fever medicine into her mouth before putting her into a sleeper hold to induce a much needed nap, I can't help but think, "Yeah, this would all be so much easier if she knew who Salacious Crumb is."
I've made sure to get on DVD all the movies I and my family quote. It's just a matter of time before the youngest members are properly corrupted and taught our language. Mwahahaha~
Raise 'em right and they will, eventually. My kids get my references :)
ReplyDeleteDoes this guy have a kid on the way? Because if not I'm going to say he may want to wait a few (dozen) years...
ReplyDeleteNo, the hardest part about having a kid...is giving BIRTH!
ReplyDeleteNah, that's just the beginning. The hardest part is always the phase they are currently in.

ReplyDeletePeople who use reference humour are allowed to have children?
ReplyDeleteYah, somehow I don't think thats ever going to be a problem for this guy.
ReplyDeleteDrives my kids nuts when they're on their way to the school bus and I tell them "Have fun stormin' the castle." Heh.
ReplyDeleteActually...that's hilarious.
