Regarding the new Earth 2 GREEN LANTERN...

(Thanks Dan!)

  1. Here at DC we hold nothing sacred above a cheesey buplicity stunt like making a 70 year-old character change his sexual orientation on the fly.

  2. Well, for me it's something like sure why not? Just throw it in.
(As a gay male myself I sure don't mind ;))
I like especially how they will try to make it look just every normal relationship, without much fuss about it (at least they claim to).

But what's sad about it, is how all his marriage, family life and personal history gets lost in the new reboot. What about Harlequin, Jade and Obsidian? I hope DC will make something up to that.

(Btw. who else did read that lame joke about how obvious it was, considering his vulnerabilty to "wood"?)

  3. I don't feel condescended to by this move in the -slightest-.

  4. I think the fact that it's Earth 2 Alan Scott is just a cop out.

  6. They should've done this change for the Green Lantern movie. Instant Oscar winner. The Brokeback Mountain of superhero movies. ...Kilowog is totally Ledger and Jordan is Gyllenhaal.

    2. Don't you mean FABULOUS?

  7. The gay Green Lantern is the only Green Lantern who isn't in the Corps? Does Oa have a don't ask don't tell policy?

    1. Guess that's just a coincidence - I really can't imagine the Guardians caring about something such human like orientation.

  8. Who says there are never any black customers?

    1. Nobody. What?

    2. I'll give that response the benefit of the doubt and assume it's some sort of reference to the famous exchange in Denny O'Neill's Green Lantern run.

    3. I'd say it's a reference to several past exchanges in the comments over time about the lack of non-white customers in the OVC panels.

  9. You know what the JSA really needed? Less black characters and more gay ones. Mr. Terrific, Mr. Amazing, Jakeem Thunder, and Lightning all replaced to get one gay guy. Real progressive DC.

  10. So they made Alan Scott gay, hm? Well, it's a step. I don't see that it necessarily affects Jade or any of the others, though. I know quite a few gay men with children.

    1. True, but making him young again means they arent't even born yet.
Or maybe DC could go back and re-utilize the story of Jade and Obsidian growing up apart of him with different families - and make them adopted children after all.

  11. So Alan Scott is now only on Earth #2 again?
What became of him being sort of a mentor to Kyle Rayner? And Kyles relationship with Jade?

Did it all just vanish in the Flashpoint or are there two versions of history now??

  12. You've got to stop this whole "drawing spit coming out the mouths" thing. It's really putting me off your work. Do you really need the flying spit drop to convey that the speaker holds a questionable or uneducated opinion? Because I think the words themselves communicate that quite effectively! It's over the top, overly derisive--and basically just downright disgusting.

I really enjoy your strip, but it's getting to the point that enough is enough with the flying spit drops. That's all, thanks and good work otherwise.

    1. Saying something is "overly derisive" is forever the go-to complaint for people on the internet. Fuck this guy.

    2. It's a comicbook shop! Visit one sometime! Hardly an exaggeration.

  13. Soooooo.... they made the guy with a weakness to "wood" the gay one.
