  3. Did you actually read the series? In it, yes, there's plenty of women who DO want to bang him, but there's groups who have (in their minds) legitimate reasons to kill him. It makes sense in context.

  4. valid (?) reason: Obviously God wanted all men dead but he missed one, let's get him!

  5. In a real apocalyptic senario women = human sheilds imo.

  7. Somewhat valid.

Even though there are groups who want to kill Yorick and have very good reasons for it, they are petty in comparison to sustaining the species, which is the greater good. That makes more sense than anything else.

  8. I do think there by default cannot be a "good" or "valid" reason to kill the last man on Earth. The only possible reason is if you're crazy in the brain.

  9. many reasons. (have not read book, so pure speculation)
easy: existence of a reproductive method independent of men: cloning, artificial sperm creation... more.
barring a scientific method of reproduction (medium): the man was criminally insane. self-defense.
    was carrying plague.
assuming the man was completely normal (hard): in so much as assuming a random genetic drift, in appx. 3 generations (~60 years), all humans still able to reproduce would be descended from 'Y': ~1/8 probability of having two of the same chromosome-> potentially a deadly reccessive trait. 26 chromosomes -> 1-(7/8)^13 (~82%) chance of having two of the same chromosome (1-(7/8)^12 (~80%) for men, as they cannot have 2 y chromosome, or rather, if they do, they're not likely live anyway). coupled with the dramatic population loss, and subsequent loss of civilization, mankind is effectively doomed. Thus, as keeping him alive gives little to no benefit to the race as a whole. Therefor it is no more crazy to kill him than it would be to kill anyone else. and that's not extremely crazy, given the number of murders and wars happening.

  10. I just wish they killed him before that damn series jumped the shark

  11. Regarding reasons, there're two more regarding normal men: Sex is risky, and sex is inefficient. If the guy were banging every woman in sight, it wouldn't be too long until he caught something nasty. And since the development of IVF, se is kind of inefficient when it comes to reproduction on a mass scale. Why let the guy waste all that semen on a single encounter, when it could be separated and injected into hundreds or thousands of ova at the same time?

  12. Apparently the anonymous three spots above isn't aware that all presently alive humans are already descendants of one man (no, this isn't a bible thing):

Also, self-defense is a worthless excuse. We are talking about the extinction of the entire human species here. If this "Y" dies, _everybody_ dies. Every human has the moral duty to sacrifice herself to prevent that, if necessary.

This was my main beef with the Y comic: nobody in it seemed to quite understand what the whole situation meant. If they did understand it, then nobody would 1) harm Yorick or 2) allow him to go find his girlfriend. And Yorick himself would not want to go Look for his girlfriend, at least not without impregnating a couple dozen women so there's a backup plan. No matter how much he loves her, you don't risk the end of the god damn world just to uphold your arbitrary promise of monogamy.

  13. First, a lot of people here should read the damn story before commenting. It wasn't a valid point if you read the story.

Second - SPOILERS! - A lot of people here are forgetting the whole cloning subplot. They didn't need man anymore. That was the point of the whole series.

Lastly, a lot of the "crazies" as many of you have labelled them, were mostly religious zealots or cult members, which tells you a lot about religious folks today and their ideas toward preserving the human species.

  14. This comment section is ripe with things for MRTIM to write into a comic...

It's a comic book; take a deep breath and just enjoy it for its entertainment factor.

  16. Gotta love the I <3 Lamp shirt... sweet blog, I'm laughin' my ass off over here. Mostly at the people arguing via comments over something that's supposed to be a joke.

  18. The series was funny and OK but the author shouls've REALLY had Yorick and Dr. Mann have sex. It wouldn't have made much sense in context- what with Mann being lesbian and all - but their scenes together sparkled with chemistry that could've been exploited to the series' great benefit. No hate for Agent 006 or whatever her name was, though.
